Improving the Hyperpolarization of P Nuclei by Synthetic Design

چکیده
Traditional P NMR or MRI measurements suffer from low sensitivity relative to H detection and consequently require longer scan times. We show here that hyperpolarization of 31 P nuclei through reversible interactions with parahydrogen can deliver substantial signal enhancements in a range of regioisomeric phosphonate esters containing a heteroaromatic motif which were synthesized in order to identify the optimum molecular scaffold for polarization transfer. A 3588-fold 31 P signal enhancement (2.34% polarization) was returned for a partially deuterated pyridyl substituted phosphonate ester. This hyperpolarization level is sufficient to allow single scan 31 P MRI images of a phantom to be recorded at a 9.4 T observation field in seconds that have signal-to-noise ratios of up to 94.4 when the analyte concentration is 10 mM. In contrast, a 12 hour 2048 scan measurement under standard conditions yields a signal-to-noise ratio of just 11.4. 31 P-hyperpolarized images are also reported from a 7 T pre-clinical scanner.

متن کاملContribution of Somatic and Dendritic SK Channels in the Firing Rate of Deep Cerebellar Nuclei: Implication in Cerebellar Ataxia
Introduction: Loss of inhibitory output from Purkinje cells leads to hyperexcitability of the Deep Cerebellar Nuclei (DCN), which results in cerebellar ataxia. Also, inhibition of small-conductancecalcium-activated potassium (SK) channel increases firing rate f DCN, which could cause cerebellar ataxia. Therefore, SK channel activators can be effective in reducing the symptoms of this disease, ...
متن کاملComparison of Hyperpolarization-Activiated Current “if ” on the Rate of Spontaneous Activity and Cycle Length before and after Cutting of Atrial Muscle away from Intact Sinoatrial Node of Rabbit
It has been shown that the hyperpolarization-activated current “if” that is blocked by 2 mM Cs+ plays a minor role on pacemaker activity of the center and a major role on activity of the periphery of rabbit intact sino-atrial node. On the other hand some investigations showed that if the atrial muscle, surrounding the sino-atrial node, is cut away there is a shift in leading pacemaker site from...
متن کاملUsing Experimental Design to Optimize the Photo-degradation of P-Nitro Toluene by Nano-TiO2 in Synthetic Wastewater
In this project, the degradation of synthetic wastewater comprising p-nitro toluene (PNT) is investigated using UV/TiO2 process. PNT as a pollutant has a very harmful effect on the environment and human hormones. TiO2 is one of the best metal oxides it has photo catalyst role. The full factorial design (FFD) of experiment is employed to investigate the effect of working va...

Background: Oxidative stress occurs when the oxidative homeostasis is damage. Excessive ROS are generated and this reaction has been proposed to produce marked damage to the structure and function of sperm. Materials and Methods: This study was designed to investigate the protective effects of of American Ginseng against cyclophosphamide - induced damage in the rat sperm. For this experiment, t...
